A Life-Saving Hack for Effortless Oven Cleaning
Cleaning an oven can feel like an impossible chore, especially when dealing with stubborn brown grease that collects at the bottom. Not only is this grease unsightly, but it can also affect the taste of your food and pose a potential fire hazard. Keeping your oven clean not only extends its lifespan but also ensures a healthier cooking environment.
While conventional oven-cleaning methods often involve endless scrubbing, harsh chemicals, and lots of time, my nana taught me an incredible hack that makes this dreaded task a breeze. If you’re tired of exhausting and time-consuming cleaning routines, here’s a simple, zero-effort solution to remove that tough, baked-on grease.
The Trick My Nana Taught Me
1. Preparation
Before starting, ensure your oven is completely cool. Remove any loose debris or crumbs, and take out the oven racks (clean these separately for the best results).
2. The Magical Mixture
- Mix ½ cup of baking soda with a few tablespoons of water to create a paste.
- The paste should have a thick, spreadable consistency—sticky enough to adhere to the oven surface but easy to spread.
3. Application
- Generously spread the baking soda paste over the brown grease and any grimy areas inside your oven.
- Make sure you cover all affected spots thoroughly, leaving no grease untouched.
4. Let It Sit
- This is the zero-effort part of the process. Let the paste sit for at least 12 hours or overnight.
- During this time, the baking soda will break down and loosen the grease, so you don’t have to.
5. Wipe Away with Ease
- After the waiting period, take a damp cloth and wipe away the dried paste.
- You’ll notice the grease lifts off effortlessly with the baking soda residue.
- For a finishing touch, spray the area with a mixture of vinegar and water, then wipe it clean again for a sparkling finish.
