Originating from the idea of elevating simple ingredients to create a meal that feels indulgent, this dish is perfect for family gatherings or a cozy night in. The gooey, crispy, and stringy textures make it a crowd-pleaser, and it’s a fantastic way to use up leftover chicken or turkey. This recipe is a testament to how everyday ingredients can come together to create something truly special.
This casserole pairs beautifully with a fresh green salad dressed in a light vinaigrette, which balances the richness of the dish. You might also consider serving it with a side of roasted vegetables, like Brussels sprouts or asparagus, to add some color and variety to your plate. A warm, crusty bread would be an excellent accompaniment, perfect for scooping up every last bit of the creamy sauce.

1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup crushed Ritz crackers
1/4 cup melted butter
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 cup sour cream
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of chicken soup
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup crushed Ritz crackers
1/4 cup melted butter

Directions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, sour cream, cream of chicken soup, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until smooth.
Fold in the shredded chicken and mozzarella cheese, ensuring everything is well combined.
Spread the mixture evenly into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
In a small bowl, mix the crushed Ritz crackers with the melted butter until the crumbs are well coated.
Sprinkle the cracker mixture evenly over the top of the casserole.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is bubbly.
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
Variations & Tips
For a bit of a kick, add a teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes to the chicken mixture. You can also swap out the mozzarella for cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese for a different flavor profile. If you’re looking to add some vegetables, consider folding in some cooked broccoli or spinach with the chicken. For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free crackers in place of Ritz crackers.
