THE BEST HOMEMADE CINNAMON ROLLS

  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)

  • 2¼ tsp instant yeast (1 packet)

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • ⅓ cup melted butter

  • 2 eggs, room temp

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 4-4½ cups all-purpose flour

✅ The Filling

  • ½ cup softened butter

  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • 2½ tbsp cinnamon

  • ½ tsp nutmeg (optional)

✅ The Frosting

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened

  • ¼ cup butter, softened

  • 1½ cups powdered sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1-2 tbsp milk


👩🍳 STEP-BY-STEP

1. Make the Dough

  1. Mix milk, yeast, and 1 tbsp sugar. Let foam for 5 mins.

  2. Add remaining sugar, butter, eggs, salt, and 3 cups flour. Mix.

  3. Gradually add remaining flour until dough pulls from bowl.

  4. Knead 5-7 mins until smooth. Let rise 1-2 hrs until doubled.

2. Roll & Fill

  1. Roll dough into 16×12″ rectangle.

  2. Spread softened butter, then sprinkle sugar-spice mix.

3. Cut & Rise Again

  1. Roll tightly, cut into 12 slices.

  2. Place in greased pan, cover, rise 30-45 mins.

4. Bake & Frost

  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 mins until golden.

  • Whip frosting ingredients, spread over warm rolls.

🔸 Extra fluffy? Use bread flour or add ¼ cup mashed potatoes to dough.
🔸 Gooier center? Pour ½ cup heavy cream over rolls before baking.
🔸 Overnight option? Refrigerate shaped rolls overnight, bake in AM.
