So innovative!
Select a stack of old hardcover books. Choose books of similar size for a uniform look or mix sizes for a more eclectic style.
Use sandpaper to gently roughen the covers of the books. This will help the glue adhere better.
Start stacking the books, applying a generous amount of wood glue between each one. Press firmly and allow the glue to dry completely before adding the next book.
Once the stack reaches your desired height, ensure it is stable and the books are securely glued together.
Place the wooden board or tabletop on top of the book stack. Use wood glue to attach it securely.
Optional: For a distressed, shabby chic look, lightly paint the edges of the books and the tabletop with your chosen color. Once dry, sand lightly to create a worn effect.
Apply a clear varnish or sealant over the entire piece to protect it and give it a finished look. Use a cloth or sponge for an even application.
Allow the varnish to dry completely before using your new table.

Variations & Tips
For a more personalized touch, consider using books that hold sentimental value, such as childhood favorites or classics. You can also experiment with different paint colors to match your existing decor or use stencils to add patterns to the tabletop. If you prefer a more polished look, skip the distressing step and opt for a high-gloss finish. Additionally, you can add small caster wheels to the bottom book for mobility, making it easy to move the table around your space.
