What Caused the Yogurt Recall?
Customers reported plastic found in yogurt mix-ins, specifically inside the dome toppers. These dome lids typically contain cookie bits, candy pieces, or granola, meant to be stirred into the yogurt just before eating.
Danone confirmed the plastic fragments ranged from 7 to 25 millimeters. Since the yogurt and toppings are usually mixed together, eating these fragments could lead to choking or internal injury.
In response, Danone initiated a voluntary yogurt recall. The company partnered with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and began removing affected products from store shelves across the country.
