- Add 1 inch of water to a pot and bring to a boil.
- Place the eggs in a steamer basket above the boiling water.
- Cover with a lid and steam for:
- 12 minutes for hard-boiled
- 8–9 minutes for medium
- 6–7 minutes for soft-boiled
- When time is up, transfer immediately to a bowl of ice water (or very cold water).
- Let cool for at least 5–10 minutes.
- Crack and peel—you’ll be amazed how the shell just slides off!
🥚 Why This Trick Works:
- Steam penetrates quickly and cooks the eggs evenly.
- Steam loosens the shell membrane, making it detach from the egg white easily.
- The ice bath contracts the egg, pulling it away from the shell for a cleaner peel.
✅ Bonus Tip:
Add a splash of vinegar or baking soda to the steaming water if you’re using very fresh eggs—this helps even more with peeling.
No more messy eggs or broken whites. With this steaming method, you’ll get smooth, perfect eggs every time—ready for salads, snacks, or your favorite breakfast. Try it once, and you’ll never go back to boiling!
