After seeing this, you’ll want to freeze water in tin cans too!
Directions
1. Remove any labels and glue from the tin cans. Wash them thoroughly to remove any residue.
2. Fill the cans with water, leaving about an inch of space at the top to allow for expansion when frozen.
3. Place the cans in the freezer and leave them until the water is completely frozen solid.
4. Once the cans are frozen, use the hammer and nail to create designs by puncturing holes in the can. The ice inside the can will prevent it from denting.
5. Allow the ice to melt and remove the water from the cans. Dry them completely.
6. Apply spray paint for an even more rustic appearance. You can combine multiple spray paints for a richer effect.
7. Add tea lights or small candles inside the cans.
8. Optionally, attach a wire handle if you want to hang your lanterns.
Variations & Tips
For an extra touch, try varying the sizes and shapes of the cans for a diverse display. Experiment with different designs by creating complex or simple patterns with the holes. Using colored candles can add a playful burst of color, while scented candles can enhance the ambience with pleasing aromas. For a festive twist during holidays, tailor the designs to themes like stars for Christmas or hearts for Valentine’s Day.
