Summer is here! That means picnics, sunshine, and plenty of outdoor fun. But while you’re enjoying the outdoors, ants may be sneaking inside — and that’s a problem. These persistent pests are notorious for invading kitchens, getting into open containers, and hunting down every last crumb.

Getting rid of ants without using harsh chemicals can be tricky, but we’ve tested some of the best natural and organic solutions. The good news? Everything you need is likely already in your kitchen! Try these simple remedies and see what works best for you.

1. Cinnamon or Cinnamon Oil

  • Ingredients:
    • 1 tsp ground cinnamon or 10–15 drops of cinnamon essential oil
    • 1 cup water
    • Cotton balls

While cinnamon’s sweet smell might appeal to you, ants can’t stand it. Mix water with cinnamon or cinnamon essential oil, then soak cotton balls in the mixture. Wipe problem areas, such as countertops, with the soaked cotton balls, or leave one in spots where ants are entering your home.

2. Baking Soda and Powdered Sugar

  • Ingredients:
    • 1 tbsp powdered sugar
    • 1 tbsp baking soda

This clever trick doesn’t deter ants but instead eliminates them. Ants are attracted to the sugar in the mixture, but when they consume it, the baking soda will harm them. Place small amounts of this mixture near entry points and let it work its magic.

3. Lemon Spray
